Presentation
Organs played a very important role in the religious landscape of Western Europe during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. Thanks to the information that has survived in a considerable number of musical, literary, and iconographic documents of this period, it is possible to recover the construction, repertoires, performance practice, and symbolism of this instrument. This advanced course,explores the musical repertoire related to the use of the organ and its narrative (clerical song, sequence, hymn, and dance song), while working on the subtle control of the bellows, precise tuning and, different possibilities of expressiveness. In addition, the historical context and symbolism of the instrument within the religious environment will also be discussed.Los órganos tuvieron un papel importantísimo en el entorno religioso de la Europa occidental de los siglos XII y XIII. Gracias a la información que ha sobrevivido en un número considerable de documentos musicales, literarios e iconográficos de este período, es posible recuperar la construcción, los repertorios, las formas de interpretación y el simbolismo de este instrumento. En este curso avanzado, se explora el repertorio musical clerical relacionado con el uso del órgano y su narrativa (canto, secuencia, himno y danza clerical), mientras se trabaja sobre el control sutil del fuelle, una afinación precisa y diferentes posibilidades de expresividad. Además, se discutirá la trascendencia, contexto histórico y simbolismo del instrumento dentro de este contexto religioso.
