University Expert in Advanced Computation for Environmental and Structural Design
University Expert in Advanced Computation for Environmental and Structural Design
Presentation
The University Expert program in Advanced Computation for Environmental and Structural Design phase focuses on a design paradigm that is informed by environmental analysis and strategies for structural optimization. Across this phase, students will receive the most advanced knowledge on the latest software developments and tools for environmental simulation and structural optimization at every scale of the design workflow: from building to urban scale.During this module students will receive education on the latest digital software and tools for environmental simulation at the scale of buildings, neighborhoods, and the urban scale. Special plug-ins will be introduced for Rhino and Grasshopper software, such as Ladybug as well as Computer Fluid Dynamic (CFD) software to study Building Physics and to develop context-specific environmental analysis. Additionally, the tools used will be applied for design optimization from the early stages of design. Throughout the programme, students will also be introduced to the broader theoretical and research context of digital tools for environmental design.
The programme offers a real-class virtual environment, based on a continuous, interactive and collaborative learning process. Students can choose to follow the program in Synchronous or Asynchronous format, according to their time-zone or their personal schedule, and based on tutorials and lectures + mentoring group sessions.
The University Expert program in Advanced Computation for Environmental and Structural Design is the first module of the Master in Advanced Computation for Architecture & Design.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor Degree: Architects, engineers, designers, material engineers, mechanical engineers and other related carreers.
For Architects, Designers, Engineers who want to become experts in Advanced Computation and lead the change in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.
As the programme offers advanced content in computational design, applicants must have previous experience in the use of some digital design tools.
Application process:
Applications are considered on the basis of an assessment of the quality of prospective students, their motivation, skills and previous academic achievements. Candidates are encouraged to give details of their motivation to study any particular programme. Once applications are reviewed, candidates will be invited to an online interview with the IAAC academic coordinator of the program. IAAC applications can be submitted each academic year.
To apply for any of our educational programmes, the applicant must fill out the online application form.
For the online application, the following required documents should all be submitted in English, with the exception of the undergraduate diploma that needs to be translated into Spanish. (All documents must be uploaded onto the designated space on the online application form in PDF format).
