Presentation

Organs played an important role in the religious music of the West during the 12th and 13th centuries. As a turn of fate, the organ is one of the instruments for which a significant number of written and iconographic documentation has survived. This enables us to learn about its use, construction, symbolism. and to rescue and bring back to life music once attributed to this medieval instrument.

In this course students will learn the basics of portative organ playing and perform pieces related to the instrument.

Los órganos desempeñaron un papel importante en la Europa occidental de los siglos XII y XIII. De su práctica, simbolismo y construcción nos informan documentos escritos y fuentes visuales de la época. La información contenida en estas fuentes nos permite rescatar y reconstruir la música del órgano medieval.

En este curso, los estudiantes aprenderán los conceptos básicos de la interpretación de órganos portativos mientras exploran diferentes repertorios aplicables al instrumento.
