Notación Modal (notación I)

Presentation

Knowledge of medieval musical notation is essential to be able to study the musical repertoires of the era. This course explore what is known as modal notation, the key to interpreting the vast repertoire of the Parisian polyphonic repertoire of the 13th century. This is done by studying the indications of the musical treatises of the time and the examples presented in the written repertoire. At the end of the course, participants will be able to sight-read music written in original sources and make transcriptions and editions of the repertoire of the period.

El conocimiento de la notación musical medieval es imprescindible para poder estudiar los repertorios musicales del período. En este curso se estudia la llamada notación modal, clave para interpretar el vasto repertorio de la llamada escuela de Notre Dame, siguiendo las indicaciones de los tratados musicales de la época y los ejemplos que presenta el repertorio escrito. Al final del curso los participantes podrán leer a primera vista la música escrita en fuentes originales y realizar transcripciones y ediciones del repertorio de la época.
